Think about your resume as an advertisement: you are selling yourself. If you observe closely the great number of resume examples, you will see that most of those don't give only an overview of the candidate's background, but also add valuable information. For example you can write that you studied at a certain school, but this might not be enough. So if you have any extracurricular activity, or you did anything outstanding, you should also include that. This information shows that you have a wide range of interests and skills, and that you are an interesting individual.
Always stick to a generalized type face such as Arial or Times New Roman. Keep your font size to 10 or 12. You can use 10 for the body of the resume and the introduction, and if you please use a slightly larger size for the header which will include your name, address, phone number, email address and any other contact information. This will provide an easy view if the employer needs to look at the resume at a glance. Always make sure you proofread and even have a trusted secretary thoroughly look over your completed resume. As much as you think things have turned out perfect, someone else can always locate a simple mistake, and lets face it, we all make them.
It doesn't matter what type of job you are trying to get hired for, if you use the right example, you will have a resume that will help ensure you the best chance possible for getting hired for that particular job. One thing that a lot of people don't understand about writing resumes is that you have to be sure that it has all of the pertinent information to help you get hired. The examples that you can locate to use, will help you understand what specific information you need to be sure is on there. You don't want to make the mistake of leaving any important information out. If you do that, then you will be hurting your chances of being hired. By using an example, you will impress the employer by adding the correct information in the correct order. Plus, if you use a specific job example, they will know that you spent time writing your resume.
